Sunset, Pimms & Barefoot Cinema
Have you ever put something on your 'I must visit there' list, leave it for a while and finally get there when the place is about to close? If so, you're definitely not alone.
I can't count how many times we both said we'd love to go to one of the outdoor cinema sessions organised by Barefoot Cinema - finally we decided to book into the rescheduled Mamma Mia session at the end of the Australia Day long weekend.
We decided to book the VIP upgrade (total cost of ticket and upgrade - $40.71 - we used SEAROADS15 for a discount on our ticket) and take advantage of either the reclining chairs or foam bags, popcorn and drink (We also pre-purchased parking ($5 per car), but unsure of the necessity to do so as no one collected the parking ticket or asked for a payment). I have to say that the upgrade is definitely worth it. - the AirSack foam bags are so comfortable (however if attending again on a hot, humid night, we'd probably take a towel to put over them as they do get quite hot).
Food wise, we decided to take a selection of nibbles along for a picnic dinner, however if you are wanting to purchase onsite, Martha's Table had freshly cooked options available throughout the evening. Our picnic was perfectly accompanied by Pimms and lemonade, available for $10 a glass at the onsite bar. After a beautiful sunset over the bay (amazing views from the bar area), we reclined in our AirSacks and settled in for the movie, which for an outdoor cinema, we were incredibly impressed with the clarity of the picture.
The only downside of the evening - it was the last session held at Seawinds Gardens.. We definitely realised a little too late just how good Barefoot Cinema is. We'll definitely be jumping in early next summer and booking into see a few sessions.
P.S. Thank you Barefoot Cinemas and Stonier Wines for our bottle of sparkling wine - we can't wait to try it out sometime soon x
