Edith Cavell

‘I realise that patriotism is not enough. I must have no hatred or bitterness towards anyone’

4.12.1865 - 12.10.1915

Such wise words from a British Nurse who served in WW1 saving soldiers from both sides of battle without discrimination.

She was arrested for helping allied soldiers escape Belgium, eventually charged and found guilty of treason.
Sentenced to death, she was killed by firing squad aged 49.
