Margaret Fulton (1924-2019)

Who else learnt to cook from recipe books written by Margaret Fulton?

Margaret Isobel Fulton OAM (6 October 1924 – 24 July 2019)

A Scottish-born Australian food and cooking 'guru', writer, journalist, author, and commentator; Margaret Fulton was the first food writer in Australia.

Her early recipes encouraged Australian housewives to alter the Australian staple of "meat and three vegetables" and to be creative with food.
She 'discovered' international cuisine from exotic places and as Cookery Editor, "brought these into Australian homes through her articles in the Woman's Day magazine". More than 1.5 million copies of The Margaret Fulton Cookbook have perched on kitchen counters as hungry people, young and old, followed her instructions to bake, whip, stir, toss, and beat.

Another great addition to our Wonderful Women Wednesday series.
