Eleanor Roosevelt

While known to many as the husband of US President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Eleanor is politically known in her own rights.

Taking on controversial topics, Eleanor advocated for expanded rights for women in the work place, civil rights of African Americans, and for the rights of World War II refugees.

She became the first delegate of the newly created United Nations, was the first chair od the UN Commission on Human Rights and oversaw the drafting of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights..
